8 Deer Jaguar Claw was a powerful Mixtec king and ruler of Tilantogo who was the son of the high priest 5 Crocodile. He was recorded to have conquered 94 cities, and briefly succeeded in uniting many of the various Mixtec kingdoms under his rule. He had a half-sister, 6 Lizard Jade-Fan, who was also the fiance and lover of 8 Deer, but was married to 11 Wind Bloody Jaguar, king of the city of Xipe's Bundle. 11 Wind attempted to take the throne of Tilantogo , but 8 Deer defeated him. He tortured and killed his brothers-in law, related to him through his marriage to 13 Serpent, but spared the youngest by the name of Four Wind. This would prove to be 8-Deer's undoing, as Four Wind led a coalition of different Mixtec kings against him and sacrificed him . What If 8 Deer had chosen to kill Four Wind instead? How would the political situation of Mesoamerica change? Could 8 Deer unite all the Mixtec peoples into one kingdom? What would be the effect on the Zapotec? Since the Aztecs are probably butterflied, how different would colonization go? Or would it not change much, the Spanish still show up and initiate the same colonial horror show we saw OTL?

I'm far from an expert on this time and place, but might a unified Mixtec state have been able to resist being subjugated by the Aztecs (or a similar culture centered in the Valley of Mexico) later on, or might it have come to dominate central Mexico itself?
