We should warn the Italian Socialist/Communist not to attack Mussolini and his party but set up hidden bases throughout the countryside and make connections with other Socialists/Communists in the colonies as to increase their chances of becoming a socialist/communist nation and gives us a foothold in the Mediterranean.

(Sorry for double posting)

I believe that either France or Britain may or may not go far-right (most likely France) since Germany will continue leaning towards the left, especially once the (inevitable) market crash happens.

A new modern Soviet Union

The Soviet Union decided one of the best opportunities they had without alienating other world powers, but still supporting the socialists and communist movements fighting for the independence of their people was to actually aid their rebellious and uprising independence movements secretly. Meanwhile the new Soviet Society was talking about changes made from the past Feudal System, as well as the role of the new Soviet Woman overall. While many Woman had not been nearly as Free then in the Western European Nation States in comparison, even those were not fully free or equal for a variety of reasons. Even more ancient relics of Czarist Russia loomed still over the Soviet Woman and even if the Peasants, Farmers and Workers had been liberated, was Soviet Ideal truly reached if one aspect of their society had not? While it was easy to attack the old institutions as outdated and by now outlawed, it was a narrow rope act, to not outright alienate the Orthodox Soviet Church, the other Christian Soviet Groups, Jewish Soviet Groups and the Soviet Mohammedan Church the new Regime tried to form and incorporate into it’s new State like one of it’s branches, miniseries and other institutions. One first step was the introduction of legal state marriages, winch could be easier annulled and changed for both parties then more traditional religious ones, especially if such a union was forced and unhappy. Problems like abortion also needed to be addressed, especially damaging in times of need for Soviet re-population of a Nation that had lost so many in the Great War and the Russian Civil War, as well as to famine alike. Like so often a sort of compromise was reached, as the Church opposed the loss of a life and soul, the state opposed the loss of a worker and laborer. Abortions were allowed in chases of medical need, in chases of crimes like rape and in other such examples, like endangerment to her and the babies life. While officially there would be a legal right for abortion for the Free Soviet Woman, the Soviet Human was a Human of the Future, planning ahead in Five Year Plans and envisioning a greater tomorrow. This also was true for the Individual Soviet and so Soviet Woman, outside of extreme legal chases exceptions while not acting unlawful were cultural and societal outcast, as they had not taken proper Birth control before and further also failed planning to do that, proving she was the opposite of the Future Planning Soviet and the same was true for the Soviet Man she had the Baby with.

At the same time all kinds of domestic and workplace abuse were outlawed as not modern, evil practices of terror to the week that was a remnant to the old regime, a noble cause that was not always represented in Siberian Gulag Camps. Rape and other such crimes against the Soviet People were outlawed and some punishments were even harder then they ever had been under the Czarist regime claiming any such crimes now acted not only against the true victim, but the new Soviet Society, people and State as a whole. As the Great War and the Civil War had shown, Soviet Woman were quit capable of holding their own in the work place and like everywhere in the new Soviet Society, were given equal rights, treatments and wages there for equal work done as we are all Comrades. In Marriage Soviet Woman were equal to Soviet Man, meaning the female families name could also be adopted as the surname, or a combination of both before the Soviet state and law. Votes to the Soviets and other equal representation rights for all Soviet People, male and female were introduced and upheld, even if doing so in the farthest corners of the Soviet Union sometimes took some time and force against old, reactionary ways. Beside new holidays for the Farmers and Workers on different dates, the Soviet Man got a new holiday as well, as did the Soviet Woman, for her one that was also the birthday of the Nation, of Mother Russia itself, known as Mother Russia Day, or Day of the Soviet Mothers, similar to Mother’s Day in other nations.

Collectivization was not often done, instead smaller farms were often unified into cooperatives with their neighbors in a region, to stand better overall changes against larger competition, a system later implemented in all branches of Soviet economies and even to make the Soviet Union more competitive to foreign companies and conglomerates on the World Market. Funds, Equipment and Supplies could that way easier be supplied and new Soviet Production and Price policies prevented anyone from being to poor to buy any necessary goods whenever needed. At the same time the Soviet Nation itself gathered reserves of all things, including food for times of crisis, natural disaster or wars, to ensure the surplus would last them and prevent any form of new shortages in the future. Similarly to the Abortion Laws, the new Soviet Society and Culture tried to oppose what some feared as a decline of birth rates in desperate times when losses from war and famine had to be made up in overall population. As Soviet Woman however had free will and rights, an incentive was created, the Title of Mother of Russia, accompanied with the Medal of Mother Russia; it also gave the Soviet Woman and their families as a whole the right to pay less taxes, for each child they had one percent. This way the intensive would hopefully hold the larger Soviet Families the Czarist Russians had overall had, but not create larger tax evasion methods, like the original plan of 10, then 5% for each Child had called for. Instead of choosing between Child and Career, now both worked hand in hand for the benefit of the whole family, while Soviet free Schools even for the poorest allowed for an at least basic education for all, even if it’s overall quality in some places lacked. At the same time child care centers, similar to schools, but for smaller children were created, to allow parents more time for work and other things for the new nation, while also giving the Soviet Nation the opportunity to guide/ indoctrinate the new Soviet Human there from a very early age. At the same time parents who wished to stay home could do so if one of a married pair would continue working, while singles had the opportunity to take a partial leave, or lower overall work hours per week (usually halved). Instead of people forcing other to get more Children for the Soviet Union, the new Soviet Family was encouraged to do so on their own and even children without a caring home were tough in School how important they were as the future workers, farmers or in other professions building up the new Soviet Nation State. It was therefore no surprise that team-building exercises and teaching that community work would get not only more done, but also better grades were most important to advise, form and shape the new Soviet People.

The new Soviet Education System allowed for focusing on working together, but also tough to think individually, that the Soviets together worked best if everyone brought something of value to a discussion and work and if everyone shared their mind freely without fear of prosecution like under the old Czarist Regime. While historic achievements of the new Soviet Union were celebrated, Soviet History also in great detail tough the bad failures of the past and what in their eyes had lead to those, so the new Soviet People could avoid repeating them in the future. Young Boys and Girls were tough to at least know the future skills and needs of the other as Man and Woman, so that if one partner in a Family or other Soviet Group would once die, or fall ill, the other could aid, or replace him if needed. This way equality of genders was much more common in Soviet Culture and Society then in most places of Europe and many Socialist International (Socintern) and Communist International (Comintern) movements and parties would model themselves accordingly as well, to prove intern and in small circles for good that the concept worked, attracting more and more female woman to their cause, especially in the West. The Western Capitalist segregation by class, race and sex in comparison was seen as continuation of the old aristocrat and royal systems, just under another name. The Eurasian Silk Road opened up new means of transportation by road, railway and plane, ever expanding, of propaganda, as well as civil and military research and cooperation. Cars in general as a thing of the upper class in the West were seen as a symbol of Class and other Division and Segregation. Instead the Soviet Focus was on better overall public transportation and shared vehicles that were a mixture of the automobile and the bus, capable of transporting a larger Soviet Family, or a Working squad/ section of Soviet Farmers and Workers to their jobs. This way they also made good personal and equipment transportation trucks in times of war in the future.

New air transpiration routes were also meant to bring the Soviet People and those of the Silk Road closer together then ever before with Moscow-Paris, Moscow-Berlin, Moscow-Beijing-Nanjing and others being opened up to build up more interaction and solitary between the parts of the Soviet Union, as well as it’s closest neighbors. Like all forms of public transportation this was also meant to showcase even the most remote locations that things were steadily happening and getting better overall across the Soviet Union, much quicker then roads, railways and other transportation means could be otherwise build. The new Soviet Scientists also were meant to compete with the Americans, British, French, Germans and other major global powers on equal terms. More smaller airports were build all across the Soviet Union, with major airports connecting major cities, medium one smaller cities and minor ones other important regions outside of those. New Soviet airplanes were build to be modifiable, with the same airframes serving for passenger and cargo planes, to quickly interchange production if needed. Some even argued computing could be serving us well in administration and mathematics challenging tasks to some degree. Bolshevik, Communists and Rykovists who would be unified into the Bureau of Proletariat Science, also known as the Bureau of Soviet Science a think tank and brain power centralization headed by a Committee of Soviets, made up by Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, Alexander Bogdanov, Boris Hessen, Nikolai Vavilov and others. In regards to foreign policy, the Italian Socialists and Communists were warned to not again attack Mussolini, or the Fascist Italian Kingdom any longer, to not escalate further retaliation against them. Secretly however their bases among the farmers in the countryside and the factory workers in the cities were expanded. Like in France, many mainland Italian Socialists and Communists were going to the colonies, to instigate Socialist and Communist support for the local independence movements there, as well as in the Mediterranean. In the meantime Rykov issued public statements about his future legal succession, making Nikolai Bukharin, Grigory Zinoviev and Lev Kamenev the most likely candidates.

1. Good to see our nation doing better than OTL.

2. Glad Rykov announced who'll be the next leader once he dies.

3. Also glad that the Italian Socialists and Communists are focusing on secretly spreading and supporting other similar groups in the countryside, factories and colonies.

Speaking of the Soviet Education, that would also help the immigrants who wants to spread socialism and communism back to their homeland (like my OC, who would still be in the Soviet Union until she and other Japanese returned in Northern Japan).

That is planned, but at the moment we still need them mostly here with us and can't send to much back simply to spread more socialism and communism, we might do so with several skilled agitators and speakers as leading figures, but not overall on mass. ;D

True, maybe once the alt. Great Depression happens...?

I'm happy to see internal development of USSR and Soviet society, and the saying goes there is not time to waste, so here is my set of initiatives dealing with overall development and modernization of Soviet armed forces. The overall aim is to prepare our armies for a future conflict with potential enemies in the West and East. Our main adversary in the future will remain the same as it is now - the British Empire with its dominions, supported by allies from around the world.

Developing our armed forces we have to take into account that USSR in the future will probably fight a prolonged war against vast coalition of capitalist and fascist states, who all combined together will have economical, demographical and industrial advantage over USSR. No one knows how the future balance of power will look like, but in our strategic planning we have to assume that USSR will be fighting alone against vast number of states, similar to German Empire and Central Powers in the Great War. However, to avoid the fate of Imperial Germany, the USSR must create the most powerful and innovative armed forces in the world. Fortunately, given our demographic, industrial and economic potential it is achievable. So the following set of initiatives should be a cornerstone for future armed forces of USSR.

1. STAVKA - creation of Soviet high command responsible for conducting all plans during the future wars

2. Deep operations and unified doctrine - the concept of deep operations proposed by comrade Tukhachevsky is tailored for the Soviet Union and in order to implement it properly we need to restructure the high command to effectively deploy new doctrines, all levels of command chain must be involved to unify the perception of new doctrine

3. Tank development - in order to stay ahead of our enemies I propose to focus on development and design of new generation of tanks in order to create strongest tank force in the world. In order to replace the cavarly, we also should focus on development of armored cars, who will carry out the same duties, with but higher efficiency.

4. Mass mechanization - in order to transform our armed forces I propose to fully equip our army with latest vechicles to raise our military effectiveness and prepare for modern warfare.

5. Development and expansion of Red Army Airforce - in the future our airforce must be fully able to intercept ground army attacks and support our vast offensives, which would require a large amount of new planes and pilots.

6. Establishment of OKBs - Experimental Design Bureaus will focus on research efforts on certain technologies with military applications, which in the future will advance our military capabilities.

7. Morskaya Pekhota - our naval infantry should play more important role in the futre, therefore more resources should be spent on naval infantry, altogether with development of new tactics and new equipment in order to increase their combat abilities.

8. Establishment of People's Commisariat of Defence to raise effectiveness of perfomed duties to match the rapid development and expansion of soviet armed forces.

9. Deep battle plan - developed by Marshall Tukhachevsky focuses on use of combined arms assault consisting of large amounts of artillery and infantry to destroy large areas of enemy front, and then use fast moving motorized and armoured units to rush in and destroy an enemies rear area.

10. Expansion of avation industry and air testing - we must expand our aviation industry to increase our military capabilities, so we must build a wave of new airfields to house our future air force. By expanding testing areas, we will be able to see what new technologies and doctrines work and which dont faster than our enemies, which will allow us to create a truly modern airforce.

11. Expansion of standing army - right now our standing army is about 500.000 soldiers, but this number is only good for times of peace. Our development and modernization programmes will require a much higher number of soldiers in the future. What is more, the Red Army is expected to be able to conduct operations on multiple fronts, often simultaneously both in Europe and Asia, so much larger standing army will be required to fullfil its given tasks. Here is my proposition on how large should the standing army should be in the future, taking into account that we are preparing for a future war both in Europe and Asia.

1926: 500.000
1930: 1.000.000
1933: 1.500.000
1936: 2.300.000
1939: 3.000.000
1941: 4.000.000

What a day, since this is the most viewed of my ongoing threads by responses, I am working this week on my Star Wars Maps, but managed to get absolutley nothing done today beside work, more work, a little shopping so I don't starve on a empty fridge and ... well that's it haven't felt this unproductive in years tbh, but I partialy blaim the weather, soemthing feels off today I'm tired and not very well (wich I always am if I actually dare to sleep more then 4 to 6 hours strangely, I always feel more down with more sleep, maybe I should see a doc about that shit, also I no longer function without tons of Coffee that can't be good either. Long story short I feel like when we were strandet in Caribbean Holidays, without much supplies for half a week because of mismanagement in one of the worst parts of this otherwise beautiful nation state, I feel liek beaten down to the core. Could be the medications I had to take today against the main problems of my disabilities, I swear the stuff isn't good long-term either.

And don't get me started on my better counterpart, mylady is so healthy and sport active that I feel like Meshugge Schlomo whenever I compare us both. Then again she has never truely worked any hard work any day in her life, so (not that she couldn't do so, quit the contrary when she dares to get her comfortable good looking behind up, but when dad runs a medium company, why lift more finger then needed, money is there anyway ans then she jokingly claims my Jewish Hirsch family are lazy and all about the cash, because of our heritage. I swear soemtimes I am so infuriated by my Hungarian Blondie and the way she is/ behaves/ lives, but I still love her ...)

People always post when I write XD
Well we just came out of a series of retireing army personal or reusing it for rebuilding after the Civil War, should we truely build up so quickly again.
Developing our armed forces we have to take into account that USSR in the future will probably fight a prolonged war against vast coalition of capitalist and fascist states, who all combined together will have economical, demographical and industrial advantage over USSR. That is true, even if China is somewhat on ourside at the moment.
1. STAVKA - creation of Soviet high command responsible for conducting all plans during the future wars
Always a good idea to combine and coordinate the command and armed forces.
Also a overall deep defense is what the SU truely needs, wide land has always aided us protecting the motherland, it will always be that way.
3. Tank development - in order to stay ahead of our enemies I propose to focus on development and design of new generation of tanks in order to create strongest tank force in the world. In order to replace the cavarly, we also should focus on development of armored cars, who will carry out the same duties, with but higher efficiency.
Naturally, even if we have seen few of that during the Great War, armroed trains and some tanks have played a not unimportant role in the Russian Civil War.
4. Mass mechanization - in order to transform our armed forces I propose to fully equip our army with latest vechicles to raise our military effectiveness and prepare for modern warfare.
To the point of efficient supplies and reinforcements, or true full mechanization? The later might be harder, it even is form most OTL current armies of this planet.
5. Development and expansion of Red Army Airforce - in the future our airforce must be fully able to intercept ground army attacks and support our vast offensives, which would require a large amount of new planes and pilots.
Never a bad Idea, it could go well with defense in deep, but also offensives to bomb the enemy deep beyond our own borders.
6. Establishment of OKBs - Experimental Design Bureaus will focus on research efforts on certain technologies with military applications, which in the future will advance our military capabilities.
A testing field for experimental prototypes?
7. Morskaya Pekhota - our naval infantry should play more important role in the futre, therefore more resources should be spent on naval infantry, altogether with development of new tactics and new equipment in order to increase their combat abilities.
True, but at the moment? I can think of a few Baltic needs, as well as the Black Sea, mostly in the Far East against the Japanese Home Islands.
8. Establishment of People's Commisariat of Defence to raise effectiveness of perfomed duties to match the rapid development and expansion of soviet armed forces.
I like that very much. Defnse should always be our main focus for the time being, until a situation in Europe presents itself were offensive is the better option.
9. Deep battle plan - developed by Marshall Tukhachevsky focuses on use of combined arms assault consisting of large amounts of artillery and infantry to destroy large areas of enemy front, and then use fast moving motorized and armoured units to rush in and destroy an enemies rear area.
But mobile please, we need to be as offensive as we can be defensive with that as well.
We are allready underway, with civil machines for cargo and people transport that can be repurposed to military ones, maybe even bombers later on.

Yes and no, we send troops home, or to rebuild, to work on fields and factories for a reason, without a major conflict in Europe directly, or a crisis leading to one doing such a massive rearment might be tricky and hard to jsutify at the moment at least.

To the point of efficient supplies and reinforcements, or true full mechanization? The later might be harder, it even is form most OTL current armies of this planet.
The 1st one
A testing field for experimental prototypes?
Correct, for army, air force and navy.

True, but at the moment? I can think of a few Baltic needs, as well as the Black Sea, mostly in the Far East against the Japanese Home Islands.
Yeah, lets skip it now, but do it in the future.

But mobile please, we need to be as offensive as we can be defensive with that as well.
Offensive of couse, as we should have a strategic initiative in the war. We also cannot let OTL situation to happen, because we will be most probably fighting on our own, without any allied help or lend-lease from the West.

We are allready underway, with civil machines for cargo and people transport that can be repurposed to military ones, maybe even bombers later on.
Thats good to hear.

In my opinion taking into account how we want to modernise and expand the navy, airforce, groundforces, tank forces and so on, the standing army has to follow this patern as well. Of course I understand that such expansion will raise many questions abroad, but in my opinion its necessity as the Red Army in the future will be required to fight on multiple fronts in Europe (North, Central, South), Middle East, Far East, maybe India and potential future fronts as the war progresses. At the end the proposed number is still lower than OTL, but we will be much better prepared and organized than OTL, not mentioning the overall military capabilities. Maybe I am wrong, but taking into account that we will probably will be fighting United States, British Empire and other capitalist powers at the same time means that our military capabilities must be able to match the western powers.

True for that we would need a major army for that, but we don't have to fight them all to directly and offensive ourselves.
Well, if we fight British Empire it will always result in sooner or later American intervention on their side, as they will never allow one continental power to dominate Europe. US has already saved the Entente during the Great War. Without american intervention in 1917, Germany would win the war against France and Britain. USA will join the war in the time most adequate for them that is certain.

8. Establishment of People's Commisariat of Defence to raise effectiveness of perfomed duties to match the rapid development and expansion of soviet armed forces.
Related to this, I don't believe we've ever established which government departments we have or have not established yet. By this point, the IRL the Council of People's Commisars for the Soviet Union consisted of the following People's Commisariats.

Foreign Affairs of the RSFSR
Agriculture
War and Navy Affairs (the equivalent of the proposed)
Trade and Industry for the RSFSR
Education of the RSFSR
Food
Interior Affairs of the RSFSR
Justice
Labor
Nationalities
Posts & Telegraphs of the RSFSR
Railways
Finance
And finally Social Welfare.

While we may not want to use all of these I feel we should discuss which are useful or not.

This. You need the ability to formally train large number of people and balance it with not tanking the economy. The USA did so very successfully during WW2, so I'd recommend watching this:
A testing field for experimental prototypes?
Field testing needs to be done for everything I'm sorry to say. The kit you build is kit that literally needs to survive a war. I hate pointing at the USA above all others as the example, but it's an example that works on the scale we need it to. The key benefit is that with proper bridge layers and reinforced rebuild actual bridges, you might go over 30 tonnes and immediately go for a Centurion like vehicle (though I'd like it to look more like Merkava I). T-55 has less upgrade potential. The USA tested molding of rubber in the tropics for instance. Just to see what it would do to tires etc when fighting there. So infantry equipment like scopes radios etc etc, to support weapons like mortars and LMG etc, to uniforms, food carts etc, to trucks and other unarmoured vehicles, to armored vehicles, airplanes, boats etc etc. It all needs to pass heavy testing. And OMG the tank is on fire is an essential one. 😉

Another thing that we ought to start is an ergonomics department. Again, for everything from the factory floor to the guns in our soldiers hands, from the schools we teach to the tanks we ride. Equipment is to be safe and sustainable to use.
