As we all know, the USSR broke up quite violently in OTL, with several wars in Ukraine, the Caucasus, and even a Russian nationalist rebellion in Estonia all seeking to revise the long-defunct borders of the Soviet Republics.
Amongst the newly created independent states states, the Republic of the Chernomorye (which translates as 'Land of the Black Sea') is probably the most unique, being a Russo-Ukrainian state that stretches from Romania to Russia, and acting as a buffer between the Ukrainian State, the Republic of Crimea, and the Donbass Peoples Republics (which went on to join the Russian Soviet Socialist Federation).
But what if this nation was never created? What if the Soviet Union fell apart along the stagnant Republic borders? Would ethnic tensions between Russians and Ukrainians still be an ongoing issue?
