Atom war!

I remember once reading about a fifties comic series about a nuclear war that takes place in the 80s between the USSR and USA, with nukes being quite literally used for almost anything, from atomic artillery to even atomic bullets. Now, it's obviously a typical example of the jingostic nuke-wank of the period, but does anyone know more about it, or find the concept interesting?

The only thing I remember, amusingly, was actually more along the lines of Atomic buses and airplanes. And one must say, the "atomic hype" lasted relatively long. If anybody of you folks has seen the 1969 French film "Hibernatus" (starring the legendary Louis de Funes ;) ), the main plot revolves around a man from circa 1910 getting frozen in Artic ice to be revived in 1969, and who comments on planes. The line was something similar to this (note that I'm losing some bits in translation :( ):

Formerly frozen guy: "Huge airplanes? Then they'll require enormous amounts of petroleum?"
De Funes: "Petroleum?! No way, they're flying with kerosene nowadays. But not for much longer. By tomorrow, they'll be flying with atoms! Yes, the era of Atomic fuel will come!" *starts to dance eccentrically*

The fromerly frozen guy just stares at him unbelievingly.
:D

Atomic was the buzz word back then, hence atom punk.
Just read the likes of Foundation with its atomic biros....

Would this be what you're talking about?
