  1. What If alternatehistory.com Never Existed?

Coventry would be a lot less crowded.
  2. The Ballad of Sailor Bill: A Timeline of the Tortoise in the White House

He’d take forever to crawl down Pennsylvania Avenue. I’d like to see the CNN coverage. The ratings would be through the roof, I bet.
  3. The Ballad of Sailor Bill: A Timeline of the Tortoise in the White House

This just gets better and more charming. Taking a semi-standard AH device, The Briefing (and, naturally, in a different font), and turning it on its head: a “threat Assessment“ about something about as benign as can be, but NatSec bureaucracy gotta NatSec bureaucratize. A forklift for “rapid...
  4. Sequel de Mayo (Cinco de Mayo, Vol. II)

Every time I see the name “Vardaman, “ I think of the Bundren’s little boy in Faulkner’s As I Lay Dying, who was in fact named after that piece-of-trash politician. Of course the boy’s father, Anse, was garbage personified. I suppose Bill, who was IOTL born n 1897, is butterflied away in the...
  5. The Ballad of Sailor Bill: A Timeline of the Tortoise in the White House

Very original. Just, please, have Sailor Bill and Nixon get along … er, swimmingly.
  6. WI: Al Sharpton Elected NYC Mayor in 1997

i believe Sharpton was still a pretty chunky guy back in 97. (He’s thin as a wraith now; I get the impression his doc said to him, “lose the weight now, or the bell tolls for thee.” that, and being more TV-friendly.) So the stress of being mayor coupled with less-than-ideal cardiovascular...
  7. Getting Ahead of Ourselves: A B-29 TL

Red sky at morning, sailors take warning …
  8. Jimmy Two: America in Carter's Second Term

Herb I? very bad, I know, but I couldn’t resist. Fantastic update unworthy of such a dreadful pun.
  9. Texas Two-Step: Nixon nominates Connally as VP in 1973

Welcome back! I hope you are making some progress emotional.y from your loss. Losing a beloved parent is a tough thing. As usual, the quality of this TL remains outstanding. You’ve got a real flair for expository narrative, and the way you reveal character through dialogue and internal monologue...
  10. After an Axis victory, what would the inevitable Axis collapse look like?

Thanks for the Atlantic historical l Thanks for the Atlantic link. It’s always interesting to read contemporaneous analyses of ww2.
  11. The Death of Russia - TL

definitely following this, after your triumph with FOM you could give this an alternate title , like “Bootstomp of Russia” or “Curbstomp of Russia,” in keeping with the foot themed titles.😀
  12. Something Serious Has Happened on Air Force One (a Tl/story by Geon)

I have to admit, I love the picture of LBJ howling with his beagle, while his bemused grandson looks on.
  13. DBWI: Hitler dies in the Bunker at the end of WWII

Blondi’s puppy Lassie probably wouldn’t have gone on to her Hollywood career.
  14. The American Civil War: The Rule of the Radical Republicans

The image of Lincoln suplexing Booth off the a second floor balcony — “LINCOLN, FROM OFFTHE SECOND FLOOR!!”— is indelible. Can easily hear Gordon Solie saying it.
  15. WI: Hitler’s fate is unknown?

Gregory Peck did quite the scenery-chewing job in that movie. Long way from Atticus Finch.
  16. The Anglo/American - Nazi War - The on-going mystery

Doris Day was in the Academy Award winnng, if. somewhat preposteros ((according to the author), cinematic treatment of the raid. (I believe it was this raid.) One of the little details of AANW that I really liked and stuck with me, even though it was initially a bit hard for me to swallow Doris...
  17. Who Killed Saturday Night: SNL Canceled In 1981

Does Al Franken ever become senator? after he initially left in 1980, he came back to SNL for another stint in 1985, which is butterflied.
  18. The Trial of Lee Harvey Oswald

One of my favorite novels, Don DeLillo’s Libra (Oswald’s astrological sign), may not get written or, if so, may not have been as good. The novel’s narrative framework is a mishmash of JFK conspiracy theories, and I found its depiction of Ruby hilarious.
  19. What if Nazi Germany created a bomb that could bomb the US?

Acme Industries probably would have just been taken over and mismanaged by fat Hermann.
  20. WI Vice President Nixon killed during his trip to Venezuela?

I doubt the Soviets would try and take advantage. They couldn’t have been any faster in denying involvement in, and decrying, JFK’s assassination, and I’d imagine a similar response here. No kitchen debate, though, and I always thought that was one of the more amusing episodes of the Cold War.
